Mrs. June Starr Davenport Pigg passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 8th, 2011, at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord, NC. June, a devoted wife, mother, sister and aunt was born on September 16, 1931 in Johnson City, TN. She was raised in Eastern North Carolina and Virginia before moving to Charlotte in her teens. She attended Wingate College where she met her husband, Myron Pigg. Myron and June were married on December 16, 1951 and resided in Matthews and Charlotte before moving to Midland in 1992. She enjoyed raising her Boston Terriers, over the years, as well as her numerous “road trips” with her close friend, Marie Correll. June will be missed by the many family and friends that love her. She is preceded in death by her husband, Myron; an infant son, Danny Hugh Pigg; her mother, Lonia Davenport; her father, Andrew Davenport; and her sister, Chloe Wilson. June is survived by her daughter, Miriam Caraway of Midland; son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Annette Pigg of Indian Trail; nephew, Wyman Wilson and family of Concord; and half-brother and sister-in-law Andy and Susan Davenport of Mebane, NC. The family will receive friends from 7 – 9 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel of Midland at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2011. At other times, the family will meet at her home. Memorials may be made to the Baptist Children’s Home of N. C., P. O. Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27361 or The Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, 600 College St., Oxford, NC 27565. Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is serving the family.
