Mrs. Karla Jean Efird Wilhoit, 72, of, 30488 Lowell Road, Albemarle, passed away on Friday, June 25, 2010 at Stanly Regional Hospital. Born December 5, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Thomas William Efird and Azzie Ray Morton Burris Efird. A visitaion will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home Albemarle on Sunday, June 27, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. Graveside service will be held Stanly Gardens of Memory at 11:00 am on Monday, June 28, 2010 with Rev. Adam Hatley officiating. Internment will follow after service. The family meeting place will be the sister's home, at 30454 Lowell Road. All family and friends are invited there for food and fellowship following the graveside service. Karla was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, and sister. In her earlier years she was an avid bowler and a wonderful seamstress. She enjoyed sitting at the beach watching the waves roll in. She was loved and will be missed by many. The family would like to express thanks to Hospice of Stanly County for the special attention Karla received during her last days. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Helen Burris Mann and husband Dick; brothers, Boon, Ray Von, and Jay Van Burris and wife, Bernice; sister-in-law Faye Burris; and one nephew. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Paul Junoir Wilhoit, of the home; son, Tom Wilhoit and wife Cindy, of Albemarle; daughter, Cindy Wilhoit Smith and husband Reggie, of Albemarle; brother, Mac Don Burris, of Albemarle; sisters, Joyce Efird Roland and husband Robert, of Albemarle, Hazel B. Clontz, of Albemarle; grandchildren, Krista Elaine Plowman and husband Shane, and their children Kyler, Karah, and Aly, Paul Gray Wilhoit and wife Sherry, and their son Trey, Darrell Ray Smith and wife Keisha, and their daughter Madison, Candi Michelle Poole and husband Fonzo, and their children Kaleah and Koby; 19 nephews and nieces; numerous great nephews and nieces; as well as many long time friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 North First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001 3350.
