Katherine Marie (Kitty) Kiker, 94, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024, at the Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital in Concord, North Carolina.
Katherine was born on December 15, 1929, in Kentucky to the late James Lester Henderson and Lucinda (Lula) Hasque Henderson. She lived most of her life in Charlotte and Midland and received her education in Mecklenburg County.
Katherine was also preceded in death by her husband Willie Dee Kiker; sons, Clinton Holbrook and Willie Dale Kiker; and daughter Sharon Bowen. She is survived by grandsons Michael Timblin (Hannah) of Midland and Weslee Timblin (Heather) of Stanfield; granddaughters Amanda Hughes (Malcolm) of Midland and Holly Stotler (Charles) of Myrtle Beach; as well as 11 great grandchildren, Hayden, Clinton, Jackson, Robert, Damian, Mykah, Brayden, Tristan, Hunter, Derrick, and Savannah. Nephew, Andy Wimberly of Midland also survives Katherine.
For many years Katherine and Willie owned and operated Farm Fresh Poultry in Charlotte. They also served as foster parents to a number of children. Together, they enjoyed gardening, fishing, and camping.
Katherine’s love for people, especially children, was one of her trademarks. Devoted to her family, she always made holidays special for them. She was an excellent cook and homemaker who welcomed family, neighbors, and friends to her home. She loved traveling to the beach and the mountains.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Friday, May 31 at the Hartsell Midland Chapel. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Charlotte. Serving as pallbearers are Michael Timblin, Weslee Timblin, Joshua Shousky, Jonathan Shousky, Nick Ferrell, and Dillon Smith..
