Katherine Kitts

Katherine "Kathy" Lynn Kitts, 48 years of age, of Midland, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Duke University Hospital in Durham.

Kathy was born March 3, 1969 in Welch, WV, to Drewey Bobby Ratliff and Nita Lou Ratliff.
She was preceded in death by a niece, Peyton Blue Emrich; paternal grandparents Granville and Polly Ratliff and maternal grandparents, Elijah and Edith Collins.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will be on Wednesday at 11:00 am at Bethel United Methodist Church in Midland and will be officiated by Rev Mark Clontz. Burial will follow at the Bethel United Methodist Cemetery.

Survivors include husband of 28 years, Dale Michael Kitts of Midland; two sons, Johnathan Kitts and Andrew Kitts of Midland; parents, Bobby and Nita Ratliff of Bluefield, WV; sister, Angela (Michael) Ratliff-Emrich of Jumping Branch, WV; sister-in-law, Connie Kitts of Richmond, VA; brother-in-law, Victor (Beverly) Kitts of Bluefield, VA; nieces, Dillan and Gracie Emrich, and Vicki Belcher; one nephew, Brandon Kitts; and many special aunts and uncles.

Kathy was the Mayor of Midland for the last eight years. Prior to this she was on the Midland Town Council for four years.
