Katherine Lowder

Katherine Lowder, age 90 of Albemarle, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Stanly Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle on Monday, August 27 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 28 at 11:00 AM, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, with a 30 minute state, officiated by Rev. Mark Medlin. Burial will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory. At other times, the family will meet at the home of her daughter, Patricia Almond, 22408 Karen Road, Albemarle. Mrs. Lowder was born in Cabarrus County on February 13, 1922 to the late Sydney Mesimer and the late Mary Magnolia Barringer Mesimer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Postil Berry Lowder, Jr. in 1988; one son, Tony Lowder; two sisters, Frances Morris and Faye Teal; and one brother, Jimmy Mesimer. She is survived by one son, Garry Lowder and his wife Debbie of Concord; one daughter, Patricia Almond and her husband Larry of Albemarle; one brother, Don Mesimer of Albemarle; two sisters, Julia Plott of Concord and Jean Dale of Morganton; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. 1st Street, Albemarle, NC 28001. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Lowder family.
