Katherine Carol Snuggs

Katherine Carol Snuggs, 87, of Albemarle, passed away Friday, August 18, 2023 at Atrium Health Stanly Hospital in Albemarle.

Kay was born February 12, 1936 in North Carolina to the late Giles Willard Snuggs and the late Katherine Hornbuckle Snuggs. 

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2pm in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel,  officiated by Pastor Monte Clark.  Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park located at 1425 East Main Street, Albemarle.

Kay was a veteran of the United States Air Force which she retired from as a Major.  After retiring from the Air Force, she returned to Albemarle to work for Dr. Larry P. Jenkins from 1979 to June 30, 1996, after which she went to Pfeiffer College and earned an Associates degree in Christian Education.  In 1957,  Kay graduated from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing and then in 1977 she received her BS degree from Chapman College.   Kay was a lifelong member of First Street United Methodist Church and also a member of Kepha Sunday School Class which she taught.  She also served as a chairperson of the Administrative Board and Council of Ministries, and also as President of UMW.  Kay also loved to help the community any way she could and volunteered for Meals on Wheels in Albemarle, and at the The Pregnancy Crisis Center.  Her memberships also included DAV, NAUS, and TROA 

Survivors include brother; Joseph (Ann) Willard Snuggs of Albemarle, NC.
