Katheryn Griffin

Katheryn Oneil Griffin, 95, of Locust, passed away Friday, September 3, 2021 at Novant Health - Mint Hill in Charlotte.

Mrs.Griffin was born June 9, 1926 in North Carolina to the late Earnest Massey and the late Grace Louisa Massey.
She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Griffin; sister, Marilyn Somers; brothers, E.W. Massey, and Billy Massey.

The family will hold a private graveside service at Locust Presbyterian Church Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Don Burleyson.

Mrs.Griffin was an outstanding member of the Locust Presbyterian Church, where she started the Prayer Shaw Ministry. She contributed much by making a quilt every year to be raffled off to help raise money for the church. Katheryn also worked as an RN for Mercy hospital for 40 years, dedicating her life to help serve others. She will be missed by all she knew as she was a beloved mother to her children and grandmother to many grandchildren. She has gone home to be with her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ.

Survivors include daughter, Katheryn (Lynn) Moorefield of Lexington, NC; daughter, Marilyn (Bruce) DeVido of Waxhaw, NC; brother, Robert Massey; sister-in-laws, Carrie Massey, and Mildred Massey; grandchildren, Katie Aliff (Justin Hatley) and Morgan Overman; great-grandchildren, Maddie Hatley and Mason Hatley; step-granddaughter, Andi Watkins; step-grandson, Brant (Hazel) Moorefield; and step great-granddaughter, Cindy (Mark) Woodleif.
