Kathleen Cox

Kathleen Coble Cox, 89 years of age, of Oakboro, went to be with the Lord Sunday, June 23, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family. Kathleen was born March 18, 1924 in Stanly County to the late Shuford Baxter Coble and the late Myrtle "Burtle" Octa Whitley Coble. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred Cox, Jr. in 1982; brother, Ray Coble; and sister, Lillian Russell. The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm, on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be at 11 am on Wednesday, June 26 at Barbee's Grove Baptist Church, 24786 Barbee's Grove Rd. in Oakboro. Services will be officiated by Rev. Phillip Smith and Rev. Wayne Austin. Burial will follow at the Smith's Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery on Highway 138, Oakboro. At other times, the family will be meeting at the home. She is survived by her son, Jimmie Cox and wife Lisa of Oakboro; grandson, Dale Cox and wife Crystie of Oakboro; granddaughter, Jamie Cox of Albemarle, two great grandchildren, Harley and Dyna Cox; sisters, Ann Herrin and Carol Kelly, both of Albemarle; and brother, Ted Coble of Oakboro. Kathleen was a faithful member and Sunday school teacher at Barbee's Grove Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and retired from Stanly Knitting Mills.
