Kathryn Hartsell

Kathryn O’Neal Helms Hartsell, 94, passed away on Monday,  April 13, 2020 at Universal Healthcare after several years of declining health.

Kathryn was born on January 22, 1926 in Union County, NC and was the daughter of Ola Mae Forbis and Isaac Jayhew Helms.

She graduated from Hartsell High School in 1943 and married Felix Junior Hartsell on November 28, 1945. Her husband Felix preceded her in death on April 23, 1983.  She worked in the textile industry until retiring in 1989.  She was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Concord.  She enjoyed raising her four children, watching the Atlanta Braves, being outdoors watching the birds, doing yardwork and spending as much time as possible with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her three sons and one daughter:  Jack Lamar Hartsell & wife Brenda, Joe Alan Hartsell & wife Teresa, John Wilson Hartsell & wife Darlene and Janice Hartsell Rushing along with nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Brookdale Assisted Living, Universal Healthcare and Atrium Hospice for their care during her time of declining health.

There will be a graveside service on April 16, 2020 at 3:30pm at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis for the immediate family and a viewing at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord from 2-3pm preceding the service.
