Kathryn Perry Tilley Hinkle, 89, of Badin, NC passed away early Sunday morning, July 24, 2016, in her home from complications of stroke. She was preceded in death by her parents Victor Otis Tilley and Maddie Estelle Perry Tilley, her 4 siblings, and her beloved husband Robert Cliff (Bob) Hinkle, Jr. Kathryn is survived by four children: Paul Robert (Karen) of Badin, NC; Perry Cliff (Elaine) of Durham, NC; Mark Otis (Rebecca) of Lexington, NC; and Nancy Ruth Hinkle Brouthers (Scott) of Cary, NC; seven grandchildren: Ginny Hinkle Gallina (Chris); Kathryn Ann Hinkle; Lainie Hinkle Huffman (Grant); Zoe Brouthers; Melody Brouthers Clement (Joel); Chase Brouthers; Will Hinkle; and three great-grandchildren: Ali Capel, Maddy Gallina, and Braxton Elliott.

Kathryn was born in Fuquay Springs (now Fuquay Varina), NC on July 13, 1927, and was Valedictorian of her class at Fuquay Springs High School. She graduated from Women's College (now UNCG). She met the love of her life while working at NC State University; Kathy and Bob were married in 1949. They made their home in Badin, NC and enjoyed living there the rest of their lives, actively serving the community and their beloved Badin First Presbyterian Church, until illness intervened.

Kathryn will be remembered with great tenderness by her family. She was a lovely and loving, gentle, soft-spoken, intelligent, determined woman with a true servant's heart, who was always taking care of people in need. Her family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the kind caregivers who tended to their mother's every need over the last several years: Marie & Bobby, Carrie, Terri, Debra, Rhonnie, Lizzie, Amanda, Daphne, Janice, Jan, Courtney, Helena, Ruth, Meredith, Doug, Ruth Silsby, Rev. Dan Wray, and the staff at Hospice of Stanly & The Uwharrie.

A memorial service is scheduled for 4:00 PM on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Badin First Presbyterian Church. The Reverend Dan Wray will officiate. The family will receive friends & family immediately following the service, in the Fellowship Building. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Badin First Presbyterian Church, (PO Box 776, Badin, NC 28009); Hospice of Stanly & the Uwharrie, (960 N. 1st Street, Albemarle, NC, 28001); any children’s home or children’s charity; or a charity of the donor’s choice.
