Katie Cagle Furr

Katie Marie Cagle Furr, 94, of Concord, entered eternal glory on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital in Concord, NC. She resiliently battled chronic health conditions, and fiercely persevered with unending joy until her final days.

Katie was born August 5, 1928 in Concord, North Carolina to the late Walter Lee Cagle and the late Alice Potts Cagle. Katie was one of 9 children, all of which she surpassed in life. After losing her mother at an early age, the children were supported by their father, Walter, and grew up in Winston Salem, NC. Katie married Jack Carlton Furr at the age of 17, and had two sons, Jack "Jackie" and Jeff Furr. 

She was also preceded in death by her husband, LCDR Jack C. Furr (Retired), son Jack "Jackie" Furr, and brothers:  Luke Cagle, Bill Cagle, Frank Cagle, Francis Cagle, Jim Cagle, Buddy Cagle, and Don Cagle, and a sister, Adelaide Cagle.

Katie had powerful tenacity that was firmly rooted in her faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Katie’s younger life was filled traveling to Holland, England, Hawaii, and many other places to support her late husband Jack Furr who served in the U.S. Navy. She lovingly cared for her two sons Jeff and the late Jack Furr through every move they made. Though unable to drive since her 40s due to her health, Katie loved going out with her family to eat or shop every chance she was offered! Her kindness and ability to love, forgive, and laugh through every season of life exemplified God’s standards for us.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at 1:30 pm at Carolina Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel in Concord, NC.

Survivors include her youngest son, Jeff (Krissie) Furr (Matthews, NC), daughter-in-law, Shirley Furr (Paulden, AZ), grandsons, Trey and Bentley Furr (Prescott,AZ), granddaughter, Mercedes Furr (Gastonia, NC), and 3 great-grandchildren.
