Kay Mclaurin

Kay Francis McLaurin, 69 years of age, of Concord, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.

Kay was born October 24, 1947 in High Point, NC to Robert "Bob" and Jane Grubb Byerly. She was preceded in death by both parents. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Charles "Buddy" McLaurin; daughter, Lynn Cauthen and her husband Ray; grandson, Daniel Cauthen and his wife Jennifer and their son Brody; and grandson, Jonathan Cauthen and his wife Lindsay. Kay was also loved and adored by all of her nieces and nephews, and she was the adopted grandmother of twenty additional "shared" grandchildren.

Her shared grandchildren are as follows:
Her Brazilian grandson Carlos, and his wife Caroline and baby Pedro.
Eight Grandchildren and One Great-Grandchild shared with Kay’s dear friend, Rosemary Sizemore.

Kay's passion and career was caring for children and the elderly. During her illness, she was surrounded by her family and many of the children that she cared for.

The family will receive friends from 12 - 1:30 p.m., on Friday, June 30th, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home at 460 Branchview Dr. NE in Concord, NC. The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel at Hartsell Funeral Home and will be officiated by her second cousin, Pastor Jerry Williamson. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens in Kannapolis.
