Keith Foster

Keith Owen Foster, a lifelong resident of Concord, passed away on Tuesday, January 28. He was 60 years old.

Keith was born on January 31, 1959 to Gene and Louise Foster. Early in his life, it became evident that Keith had special needs. This, however, did not keep him from living his life to the fullest.

With a big smile and an interest in getting to know people, he made friends wherever he went. His favorite activities included riding in pick-up trucks, going to lunch with friends and listening to gospel music.

Many of his friendships were centered around his membership at Westford United Methodist Church, where he was nurtured and embraced by the congregation throughout his life. He proudly sat up front during the services, periodically sneaking little peeks around the room to see who among his friends might be counted on later to have some peppermints or a stick of gum.  With luck, he might even get a new phone number or an invitation to grab a burger somewhere.

While he loved and was loved by many people, his most important personal relationship was with his mother.  He lived with her until his health issues required more specialized care than he could get in a home setting. But their deep and abiding bond was evident to anyone who saw their joy at being together whenever she visited him.

Keith was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother, Louise Foster; brother, Gary Foster (LuAnn); sister, Karen Israel (Paul); and aunts, Phyllis Bennett (Tyler) and Della Allmon (Wade).  He also had many nieces and nephews as well as extended family members with whom he shared warm relationships.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Hartsell Funeral Home from noon until 2:00 pm. The funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 pm with Jeff Rushing officiating.  Interment will be at Carolina Memorial Park Kannapolis immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Westford United Methodist Church, Hospice Care of Cabarrus County and Special Olympics.
