Kemp M. Meggs, 86, of Concord, passed away Monday, October 15, 2018 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. Mr. Meggs was born June 22, 1932 in Union County, North Carolina to the late William L. Meggs and Bertha Thomas Meggs. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen Lambert Meggs, and son, Kelvin Meggs. Survivors include a daughter, Karen, and granddaughters, Chelsea and Kirsten.
Kemp was a member of Poplar Grove Baptist Church and served as a deacon and Sunday School administrator. He graduated from New Salem High School and worked as a plant superintendent with Superior Block Company and later Refabco, Inc. Kemp was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed woodworking, furniture making, landscaping, hunting, traveling, daily walks, and serving in his church. He will be remembered as he was: a loving, faithful, and fun-loving father, grandfather, and friend.
The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Morningside of Concord and Cabarrus County Senior Center, Dr. Condrey with Weddington Internal Medicine, Dr. Mangieri and Dr. Skudlarska, Sheila Black and the staff of CHS Senior Care, the staff of Cannon Pharmacy, and Tucker Hospice House.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm – 1:45pm on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home Concord. The funeral service will be on Saturday at 2:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. James Barrett. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) or Concord Senior Center.
