Kenneth Cruse

Kenneth Boland Cruse, 84, of Concord, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at CMC-Northeast in Concord. He was born February 22, 1929 in Michigan to Bernard William Cruse Sr. and Juanita Boland Cruse who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Bernard William Cruse, Jr. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm November 10, 2013 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Monday November 11th at Calvary Lutheran in Concord at 11am. The service will be officiated by Pastor Carroll Robinson. Burial will follow at the at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. The family will also receive after the burial at the church. Kenneth graduated from law school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Between the years 1951 and 1953 he served his country in the US Army during the Korean War as a 2nd Lt. Upon returning from service he began over 40 years of practicing law in Concord and was a member of the NC Bar Association. He was a past Master of the Cabarrus Lodge #720 where he was a member for 51 years. He also was a Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star. He was responsible for starting the Rainbow Girls of Cabarrus County. He was also a longtime member of Amvets Post 845 of Rockwell where he started the Sons of Amvets in 2004 who awarded him the commander award. He was also a former member of the America Legion, the White Shrine, and the Cabarrus County DAV. Kenneth was a past member of the NC Academy of Trial Lawyers. He was also a former member of the Loyal order of Moose and Yorke Rite Bodies. Mr. Cruse served in the Army Reserve and helped establish first reserve unit in Cabarrus County with Charles Wrenn and James Babb. Survivors include son, Kenneth Boland (Mary Kiker) Cruse Jr. of Concord, NC, son, David (Cindy) Cruse of Concord, NC, daughter, Portia Mayfield of Waco, GA; 4 grandchildren, Jonathan "Jay" Cruse of Concord, Amber Cruse of Salisbury, Tiffany Webber of Charlotte, and Kristi Glover of Concord, NC.
