Kenneth Kyzer

Senior Master Sergeant Kenneth Michael Kyzer , USAF Retired

Senior Master Sergeant Kenneth Michael Kyzer was born July 12, 1953 in Columbia, South Carolina and died peacefully on February 5, 2021.

He attended Spring Valley High School and joined the USAF after graduation. He retired honorably after 20 years of service to his country.  He attended Troy University as an undergraduate and Auburn University receiving a Masters of Education.

He taught Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) at TC Roberson High School in Asheville, NC from 1992-1999. In the fall of 1999, he moved to Charlotte where he taught US History and assisted with the Debate team at North Mecklenburg High School. He retired from teaching in the fall of 2014.

Retirement did not stop him from inspiring in the classroom as he continued to substitute teach for Kannapolis City Schools at AL Brown High School through 2020. He was a mentor and father figure to many of his students.

Ken was motorcycle enthusiast. He was a founding member of the Concord Indian Motorcycle Riders Group and served as treasurer.  He loved to ride his motorcycle fondly named Delilah.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Oates Kyzer.   A brother Don Kyzer(Kathy) of Myrtle Beach, SC  a sister Patricia K Mitchell(Rhett) of Hartsville, SC  Nephews Rhett Mitchell III (Chelsy) of Golden, CO,  Ryan Mitchell of Aiken SC and grandneice Ruby Rae Mitchell.  His beloved dog, Speck has been adopted by a wonderful family.

A Celebration of life will be held on February 20, 2021 at 1pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. http://video.ibm.com/channel/hartsell-funeral-home-concord
