Kenneth Polk , better known as “Kenny” of North Carolina transitioned to glory on Sunday August 11, 2024, in hospice after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Kenneth was born on January 23, 1951, to Minor and Ollie Polk.
He attended school in Albemarle, NC. He later began work as a cook at various restaurants.
Kenneth later moved to Washington, DC alongside his brother (Odell) to be with his favorite cousins Mary, Barbara and Pudding. He changed career paths and became a truck driver. While in DC, Kenneth found the love of his life and former wife Brenda Smith with whom he had 2 children together.
Kenneth always had a passion and love for helping out others whether it be family and friends or strangers who needed help in the community. He would help put things together, painting and mowing lawns! He was the true definition of a ‘Jack with all Trades’. If you knew him you would know, he was very comical and would have everyone laughing for days. Even in his final days, he was still joking around. He really knew how to make your cheeks and tummy hurt from laughing so hard.
We will truly miss those funny and memorable moments. He also had a love for music. When music came on, he would tap his feet to the beat of the music. He would also get up and do his little two steps while saying “This is how you cut a rug”. LOL.
He was preceded in death by his parents: father, Minor Polk; mother, Ollie Polk; brother, Theodore Polk; sister, Zenora Polk; sister-In-Law, Bobette Davis-Sanusi; daughter, Elisa Carrington; stepdaughter Antoinette Hester; granddaughter, Katarra Motley; niece, Yolanda Polk; niece, Latasha Bost; niece, Jackie Braxton; nephew, Malcolm Polk; brother-in-Law, Artis Sellers, Sr and friend, Pauline McCall.
