Kenneth Smith

Mr. Kenneth Wayne Smith, 76 of Concord, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. He was born on October 31, 1934 in Cabarrus County to the late Plato “Pete” Vernon and Venna Elnora Blackwelder Smith. Mr. Smith is also preceded in death by his loving wife of 30 years, Elizabeth Ann Phillips Smith, who was the light of his life and brother, Jack Fabian "Pete" Smith. Kenneth was a loving father and grandfather and a well loved and respected member of Harrisburg Presbyterian Church. He was a veteran of the US Army, where he served in Hawaii for two years and a hair-stylist at Mr. Mason’s on Church Street for 30 years. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Harrisburg Presbyterian Church, 220 Oakley Drive, Harrisburg at 11:00 AM with Rev. Tim Bostick officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Military Rites performed by Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard. At other times, the family will be meeting at the home. He is survived by his loving daughter, Beverly Browning Cohen and husband, Peter, of Kennesaw, GA; grandchildren, Hayley, Jeffrey, and Kelly; sister, Patsy Smith Barnette and husband, Otis, of Charlotte; and his special friend, JoAnne Moses, of Concord, whom he adored.
