King Burleson

April 18, 1942 — July 2, 2011


King Carol “KC” Burleson, 69, of Albemarle, NC passed away on July 2, 2011 at his home with loving family at his bedside. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Sunday, July 3 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, July 4 at Poplin Grove Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pastor Richard Carlisle and Rev. Barry Whitley will officiate. Mr. Burleson was born in Albemarle, NC on April 18, 1942 to the late Worth and Carrie Lee Smith Burleson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Muriel S. Burleson. During his life, he loved making a joyful noise unto the Lord; he never met a stranger and always had a song to share. His greatest joy was singing in the choir at the church he loved, Poplin Grove Baptist Church. He had a true passion for life and his devotion was shown through his love for his family. Mr. Burleson is survived by his wife, Billie Eudy Burleson of the home. They would have celebrated their 50th anniversary on September 3, 2011. Other survivors include two daughters, Tracy Burleson Bowers and husband Todd of Albemarle, Robin Burleson Whittaker and husband Art of Albemarle; grandchildren, Teryn Bowers and fiancé Miller Morgan of Albemarle, TJ Bowers of Albemarle, Ben Whitley and Cameron Whitley of Oakboro; step-grandchildren, Ashley Whittaker and Jimmy Whittaker of Mount Holly; brother, Keith D. Burleson and wife Lovenia of Albemarle; niece, Gina Burleson Furr and husband Ricky and children, Travis, Logan and Ricky Furr Jr.; niece, Abby and nephew, Dillion Burleson. Pallbearers for the service will be: Ben Whitley, TJ Bowers, Cameron Whitley, Grant Whitley, Alan Whitley, Bryan Harris, Chris Harris and Jimmy Whittaker. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Hospice of Stanly County and also for the kindness and compassion shown by Karen Herlocker, Robin Rogers and Kathy Hicks. Memorials may be made to Poplin Grove Baptist Church Choir, 220 Poplin Grove Church Road, Albemarle, NC 28001.
