Burin Medlin, age 96, resident of Spring Arbor Assisted Living, Albemarle, NC passed away Wednesday, October 13th, 2010 at Stanly Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be Friday, October 15th from 6 to 8 PM at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle, NC. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 16th at 2 PM at Liberty Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Oakboro, NC with a 30 minute state prior to the service with Elders Larry Austin and Rom Kerley to officiate. The burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites by the Stanly County DAV, Chapter 12. Mr. Medlin was born September 1st, 1914 in Union County. He was the son of the late Luther Thomas and Lena Taylor Medlin. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 67 years, Esther Christy Medlin in 2007, two brothers and four sisters. He is survived by one son, Randy Medlin and wife Andy of Norwood, two daughters, Toni Swinson of Stallings and Pat Russell and husband Bill of Norwood; four grandchildren Shannon Sammartino and husband Kenny, Kevin Swinson and wife Susan, Nick Russell, and Chrissy Medlin; three great grandchildren. Mr. Medlin proudly served his country in World War II. He began his service with the US Army on April 5th, 1944 and served until he was injured in battle for which he was awarded the purple-heart. Mr. Medlin’s work career included owner and operator of Quality Tire and Appliance Center in Norwood and later worked and retired from Collins & Aikman in Albemarle. Mr. Medlin’s two great loves were his family and his church. He was a loving husband, daddy, and Paw Paw who enjoyed the times spent with his family. He was a much loved member of Liberty Hill Primitive Baptist Church where he faithfully served as a deacon for many years. He loved the church and his church family and will be greatly missed filling his seat on the front bench. Memorials can be made to Liberty Hill Primitive Baptist Church c/o Eldridge Furr, 640 N.
