Lanny Mabry

Lanny Harris Mabry, 66 years of age, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 20, 2018 in Ruleville, Mississippi.

Lanny was born on April 28, 1951, in Albemarle, NC.  He graduated Albemarle High School in May of 1969.  He attended Gardner Webb University perusing a degree in sports education then joining the National Guard.  After moving to Norwood, Lanny began working for the Department of Corrections.

Lanny was an accomplished football player and golfer and often could be found on the course at Piney Point. He was a kind generous individual who never met a stranger and loved his family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home Albemarle.  There will be a graveside service on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Fairview Memorial Park, 1425 East Main Street, Albemarle.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Lanny’s life.

Lanny is survived by his wife of 28 years Sabrina Mabry and their two daughters, Hollie and Benjamin Collins, parents to Eli and Kipton Collins; and Crystal and Tracy Rockhold, parents to Ashleigh Rockhold; brother, Robert “Pep” and wife Jerry Mabry of Myrtle Beach, SC; two nieces,Tracy Long and Pepper Ann McCarthy.  He is preceded in death by his parents Robert “Teeter” and Jewell Mabry.

The family would like to thank Halcyon Hospice and the staff at Ruleville Nursing and Rehab for all the care they provided.
