Larry Benton Blalock, Sr., 74 years of age, of Norwood, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015 at his home.
Mr. Blalock was born November 10, 1940 in North Carolina to the late Wilburn Vernon Blalock and Flora Arline Lisk Blalock.
Larry, and his late father, owned and operated for many years Stanly Machine and Welding. He also worked for Southern Mechanical as a welder before retiring. He enjoyed salt water fishing, coin collecting, tending his vineyard, and teaching Sunday School for the Arthur Hatley Sunday School class at Tabernacle UMC. He also cared deeply about providing food to the hungry and organized food drives at the church to benefit SCCM.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 29, 2015 between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM at Tabernacle United Methodist Church in Albemarle. The memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary officiated by Rev Bob Cauble and Rev Ron Huneycutt. Burial will follow at Silver Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include his loving and faithful wife of 55 years, Norma; two daughters, Kimberley and husband Derl Faulkner and Monica "Jody" and husband Scottie Cox all of Albemarle, two sons, Larry Jr. "Ben" and wife Melissa Blalock of Troy, and Gregory and wife Mandy Blalock of Norwood, eight grandchildren Kyle and Ian Faulkner, Johnathan Strange, Alicia and husband Brett Fessler, Hannah Strange, Preston Blalock, Calob and Colton Blalock, two great grandchildren Austin Strange and Chloe Jerringan.
He is also survived by two beloved aunts Emily Kiser and Nannie Gray.
