Larry Alan Carpenter went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 1, 2023, one day following his 84th birthday. He left the earth surrounded by his loving and grateful family while entering heaven and was welcomed by his beloved wife and other family members who were waiting for this blessed reunion.
Larry was born November 30, 1939, to the late Craig Carpenter and the late Lyndall Love Carpenter. Larry was beloved by many and leaves us sad… but rejoicing in his rich legacy and generational blessings. His recent health struggles only magnified his contentment that God was still writing his story and using this time to teach others what it looked like to trust in Jesus. His beloved Brenda earned her wings almost three years earlier and was certainly there for his homecoming.
He leaves behind a son, Scott Carpenter (Lynn) and daughter Jennifer Yow (Jeff) who was gifted in this position of privilege to call him Dad. As part of that generational blessings, he leaves five grandchildren, Kelton Carpenter (Amber), Kirby Carpenter, Kaley Carpenter Morgan (Ethan), Emma Yow (fiancé Patrick) and Bryce Yow, and four great grandchildren, Cooper Carpenter, Cade Carpenter, Colby Carpenter and Brooks Morgan. He also loved and leaves behind a brother Greg Carpenter (Joyce) and sister Fran Bailey (Doug). His love of family, love for the Lord, and deep commitment to his faith will live firmly in these children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as a tremendous legacy of difference making.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 5th from 1:30pm– 3:00pm at Brentwood Farms located at Brentwood Farms Drive in Locust and a service honoring Larry will immediately follow at 3:00pm officiated by Pastors Cory Colravy and Roland Banks. The burial will follow in the church cemetery at Carolina Presbyterian Church. Larry loved his church and church family and will be laid to rest beside his beloved Brenda.
The family would like to specifically thank all those “hands of Jesus” that loved and cared for him along the way. A special gift to the Carpenters was Billie Kiker. Her countless hours were a blessing indeed. We would also like to thank Tracy Nottage and Judy Mills for the amazing care over the last year. The Hospice team of Stanly County again demonstrated this amazing gift of ministry, love, and care. Special heartfelt gratitude goes to Deanna Deere and Crystal Thomas of Hospice who loved and cared for Larry beyond measure.
Memorials may be made to Tillery Compassionate Care Hospice, 960 North First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001.
Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is serving the Carpenter family.
