Larry Ray Holt

Larry Ray Holt, 83, of Albemarle, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. 

Larry was born January 26, 1941, in Albemarle North Carolina to the late Dewey Ray Holt and the late Mardesia Sylvia Lucas Holt. 

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Scotty Holt and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Faulkner Holt both of Albemarle.

A celebration of life service will be held on October 19, 2024, at 11:00 am at Albemarle Foursquare Gospel Church. The service will be officiated by Pastor Barry Whitley and Johnny Holt. 

Larry served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Truckee (A0-147). He married the love of his life, Drinda, on March 3, 1963. Together they began their 61 years of marriage with 3 children.

His work history varied with interest from Wiscassett Mills to animal control officer, cemetery caretaker and finally long-haul trucking. His Naval service and trucking career allowed him to see a vast majority of the world and his/our great and beautiful United States.

Larry enjoyed his family time. Holiday gatherings were his delight.

Survivors include wife, Drinda H. Holt of the home. Son, Timothy (Trish) Holt, daughters; Angela (Dale) Smith and Laura Lewis all of Albemarle, NC. Grandchildren; Tiffany (Ryan) Mabry, Tabitha (Mason) King, Samantha Holt, Anthony Smith and Michael Lewis. Three great grandchildren; Skylar King, Colt Smith and Norah Smith. A sister-in-law, Shelia (JR) Hall of Morganton, NC, Sister, Ann Holt and brother, Johnny Holt. Numerous nieces and nephews.

He will be so missed but never, ever forgotten.

God speed Larry-husband, father, brother and friend until we meet again.

 Memorials may be made to Tillary Compassionate Care of Albemarle, Albemarle Foursquare Gospel Church or West Albemarle Baptist Church.
