Larry Owens

Larry Eugene Owens, 77, of Concord, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.

Larry was born June 18, 1942 in Stanfield to the late Omie Furr.  In addition to his mother, Larry was also preceded in death by wife, Lorene Owens; daughters, Kimberly Owens and Bonnie Martin; brothers, Hazel and Ervin Owens; and sister, Barbara Owens.

Larry was a veteran of the U.S. Army and National Guard.  He enjoyed being a truck driver for over 40 years.  He loved fishing.  Larry never met a stranger.  He always put family first and loved sharing tales of family adventures.  Larry was a loving father, brother and grandfather.  He will be forever loved and greatly missed.

Survivors include six children, Sandra (Tommy) Curlee of Mount Gilead, Gary Owens of Enochville, Wanda (Ronald) Eudy of Denton, Mark Smith, Dawanna Watson and David (Susan) Smith; 22 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; 10 great great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry Owens of Kannapolis.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am - 10:45 am, Friday, December 27, 2019 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord.  The funeral service with military honors will follow at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel, officiated by Rev. Mark Clontz.  Larry will be laid to rest at Salisbury National Cemetery.
