Lawson Crayton

Lawson Leander Crayton, Jr., 91, of Concord, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Trinity Oaks Health and Rehab in Salisbury.

Mr. Crayton was born April 15, 1927 in Stanly County, NC to the late Lawson Leander Crayton, Sr. and the late Violet Savannah Hatley Crayton.  He was also preceded in death by one brother and five sisters.

Mr. Crayton was a veteran of the United States Navy.  He was a big fan of NASCAR.  Mr. Crayton was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Iris Mae Calloway Crayton; son, Ronnie (Barbara) Crayton of Myrtle Beach, SC; son, Shelly Crayton of Raleigh, NC; three granddaughters, Leslie Carter, Janie Wilson, and Sarah Crayton; four great-grandsons, Mark Carter Jr., Tyler Carter, Jacob Wilson and Blake Wilson; two great great-granddaughters, Gianna Whitley and Hailey Carter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Friday, May 25, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord.  The funeral service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel of Concord.  Burial will follow at Mission Baptist Church Cemetery, 12444 Mission Church Road, Locust.
