Lelah Mae Luce, 94, of Charlotte, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Ms. Luce was born January 21, 1919 in Indiana to the late Jay and Mabel Bowers. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband, Richard Luce; a daughter, Barbara Luce; a son, Richard Luce; two brothers, Clifford Bowers and Harold Bowers and two sisters, Audrey Mumma and Esther Bowers. The family will receive friends at Harrisburg United Methodist Church on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 from 12:00pm until 2:00pm. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Toni Ruth Smith, will follow in the church sanctuary on Tuesday at 2:00pm. Burial will be held at Fairfield Cemetery in DeKalb County, Indiana. She is survived by three loving children, Darlene Myers and husband Ronnie of New Haven, IN, Bev Acker and husband Roy of Kendallville, IN and Dan Luce and wife Shirley of Charlotte, NC; a brother, Harry Bowers and wife Debbie of Fort Wayne, IN; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. Loving wife, mother,friend and grandma. Lived in Fort Wayne, Indiana and in 1999 moved to Charlotte, NC. Lelah became a Faithful member of Harrisburg United Methodist Church. She enjoyed worship, her Sunday school class, she enjoyed visiting daily with her friends at Lunch Plus. One of Lelah's greatest joys was that she was an honorary Grandma to many children at Stepping Stones Preschool. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Stepping Stones Preschool, PO Box 970, Harrisburg, NC 28075. Hartsell Funeral Home is serving the Luce family.
