Leona Dennis

Leona Myrtle Cecil Dennis, 91, of Mount Gilead, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Atrium Health Stanly in Albemarle.

Leona was born June 27, 1929 in North Carolina to the late Clarence Cecil and the late Mary Cecil Thompson.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Clarence Lee Dennis - CL, her husband, Walter B. Dennis - Peanut.

The graveside service will be on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 2:00 pm at White Crest Baptist Church Cemetery in Mt. Gilead officiated by Ron Harris. The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately prior to the service from 1:00pm until 2:00pm. Burial will follow at the White Crest Baptist Church Cemetery at 1051 River Rd., Mt. Gilead.

Survivors include daughter, Nelda Dennis of Mount Gilead, NC, grandchildren; Tonya Clark of Florida, Jimmy Dennis of Shelby, NC, Terry Dennis, great-niece, Summer (Tim) Cross of Alaska, great- great-niece, Addyson, and great- great-nephew, Abram, sisters; Nellie Dixon and Ruby Louise Thompson, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Leona enjoyed her birds and her flowers and when she was able she loved to have her garden and spend time with her family. Most special to her was time spent daily with the Lord and reading her Bible.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
