Lessie Newton

Lessie Belle Newton (Pat), 90, of Concord, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Pat was born November 18, 1923. She was a beautician for 45 years and was loved by her customers that she called "friends". She was a faithful servant of the Lord and was a member of the Christian Fellowship Church of Kannapolis and New Hope Worship Center of Concord. Pat lived a life of joy that was felt by all those who knew her. The family will receive friends at New Hope Baptist Church, 452 Brookwood Ave. NE in Concord from 12:30 to 2:00pm on Saturday, December 7, 2013 with the service following. Burial will be held at the Oakwood Cemetery. Pat was preceded in death by her parents Nathan and Ida Dodgin, and grandchild Eric Blackwell. She is survived by her loving husband of 72 years,Rufus Earl Newton; daughter, Linda Blackwell (Ed); son, Rev. Tim Newton (Raotta); sister, Modena Toney of Clemson, SC; three grandchildren, Vince Blackwell (Ann), Timothy Newton (Rene) and Andrea Burleson (Gabe) and eight great grandchildren and her little dog, Nicki.
