Lester Hopkins

Lester Hopkins, 86, of 52 Hwy N., New London died on Monday, September 28, 2009 at Stanly Regional Medical Center. He was born in Stanly County to the late Adell Hopkins and Frances Thompson Hopkins. He retired from C & A Textiles, where he worked in the warehouse. He was a WWII US Army veteran. Military Honors will be performed by DAV, Chapter 12. The family meeting place is at his home. He is survived by his wife Althea Pauline Poplin Hopkins, a son Terry Hopkins, and daughter Rita H. Stiller. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Connie Ridenhour, Karen Russell and Bryce Hopkins and his great grandchildren; Malorie Russell, Hannah Ridenhour and Evan Ridenhour. He is also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Memorials are to be made out to Home Care of the Carolina, 907 N. Second Street, Albemarle, NC 28001. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 30, 2009 from 6 - 8 PM at Hartsell Funeral Home. The service will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at 2 PM at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Chapel. Rev. Mark Medlin and Rev. Charles Bowers will officiate. Internment will be at Mountain Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
