Lester Jenkins

Lester Eugene Jenkins, 78, of Concord, passed away, Monday, April 14, 2014 at Tucker Hospice House.

Lester was born August 4, 1935 in Cabarrus county to the late Lee Olin Jenkins and the late Effie Yow Jenkins. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his stepson, Chris Clinton Jones.

The family will receive friends from 6 pm until 8 pm on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord.

The funeral service will be on Friday at 11 am in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Ray Helms. The burial will be at West Concord Cemetery. At other times the family will be gathering at the home.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Shirley Ann Eury Jenkins of the home; daughter, Tonya Greer and husband Bo of Concord; stepson, Dale Jones of Arizona; granddaughter, Emily Duty of Concord; great-grandson, Matthew; brother, Kenneth Jenkins of Albemarle; sister, Joyce Hambrick of Albemarle; three step granddaughters; and five step great-grandchildren.

Lester retired from Waylands Trucking, and loved racing. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at McDonalds and Hardees.
