Lester Burns Robbins, 90, of Concord, passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at his home. The family will receive friends at Impact Church, 44 Cabarrus Ave., Concord, NC 28025, on Friday, July 27, 2012, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. The funeral service, officiated by Pastor Donna Wise, will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the church. Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Garden in Rockwell with military honors. At other times the family will meet at the home. Lester was born on February 2, 1922, to the late Edgar Lloyd and Mamie Comer Robbins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Jonathan and Eddie Mac Robbins. He served his country honorably in five major battles during WWII. He was in the 737 Tank Battalion under General Patton. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Donnie Hewett Robbins; two daughters, Becky Robbins and Bobbie Leab and husband, Max; two sons, Phillip Robbins and wife, Patricia and Leonard Robbins and wife, Carol; a daughter-in-law, Donna Robbins Taylor and husband, Roger; a sister, Rachel Williams; ten grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
