Letha Greene

Letha Juanita Baucom Greene, 88, of Monroe, passed away Monday, January 16, 2017 at McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe.
Letha was born October 31, 1928 in Union County to the late Charlie Cleveland Baucom and the late Ora Jane Rushing Baucom. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 36 years, John Vann Greene, Jr., who passed away in 1983; and brothers, Jim and Thurlow Baucom.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Joey Query and Rev. George Gouge, will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Antioch Baptist Church, 6223 Love Mill Rd., Monroe. She will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. The burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. At other times, the family will be gathering at her home.
She is survived by her daughter, Gail G. Little and husband, Danny of Monroe; sons, Johnny Greene and wife, Sheila, Randy Greene and wife, Sonya, and Kevin Greene, all of Monroe; brothers, Ken Baucom and wife, Minnie, Bennett Baucom and wife, Reba, and Dennis Baucom and wife, Barbara, all of Monroe; sister, Joy Baucom of Monroe and friend, Burton Pelkey; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Baucom, and Bedie Baucom, both of Monroe; 11 grandchildren, Nick Greene, Cassie Owens, Greg Lee, Justin Lee, Phillip Little, Aaron Little, Hope Tyler, Joshua Greene, Christy Hargett, Lindsay Greene, and Alecia Greene; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Letha was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She was a devoted member of Antioch Baptist Church. She loved her Sunday School class and all of her church family. Letha was loved by all who knew her. She was an inspirational Christian woman, who lived her life by her faith.
