Levi Pearson Eudy, age 98 of 601 Fernwood Drive, Albemarle, NC 28001, passed away on November 04, 2009 at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle. Born in Stanly County on July 22, 1911, Levi was the son of the late Lawson and Maude Chandler Eudy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Ann Smith Eudy. A graduate of Albemarle High School, he lettered in baseball, football, basketball and track. During the 1920âs, he was a baseball player and organized a baseball team named the âRamblinâ Rookiesâ, which played all over the state. Many of his players went on to the American Legion team. He was also a business manager for the Wiscassett Textile Team named âThe Spinnersâ. In the days of the Stanly News and Herald, now the Stanly News and Press he worked as a âprinterâs devilâ, drew cartoons and also did some writing for the paper. He is survived by his sons; Johnny L. Lowder and wife Marie and Larry L. Eudy and wife Nell, all of Albemarle, a daughter, Billie Jane Eudy Pegram of Charlotte and grandchildren: Amy Hagar and husband Andrew of Mt. Holly, NC, Jill Pegram of Gastonia, NC, Brandy Faust and Charla Lowder both of Albemarle and Sean Lowder, US Army, San Antonio, Texas. He is also survived by 6 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Saturday, November 7, from 6-8 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. Funeral service will be Sunday, November 8, at 2 PM in Hartsell Funeral Homeâ s Lefler Memorial Chapel with Rev. Joe Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park.
