Lewis Martin, Jr

Lewis L. Martin, Jr., 83, of Locust, NC, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2011, at Bethany Woods Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Albemarle, NC. Mr. Martin was born June 4, 1927, in Mecklenburg County. He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis L. Martin, Sr. and mother, Daisy Bryte Presson Martin. He was a WWII veteran of the U. S. Navy and a member of Carolina Presbyterian Church in Locust. A visitation will be Tuesday, 1 – 2 p.m., at Carolina Presbyterian Church. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 officiated by James Almond. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Graveside military rites will be performed by Stanly County DAV Chapter 12. At other times, the family will meet at his home. Survivors are his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Almond Martin; son, Jimmy Martin, of Locust, and his fiancée, Cheryl Jackson, of Charlotte; sister, Carolyn Smith and husband, Paul, of Hendersonville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
