Lillian Alice Dry, 91 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Friday, September 2, 2016 at Stanly Manor in Albemarle.
Lillian was born April 1, 1925 in North Carolina to the late Spurgeon Vaniel Barbee and the late Mary Eugenia Barbee.
She was also preceded in death by husband of 41 years, Sandy Monroe Dry; daughter, Diane Swaringen; son, Daniel Dry; two sisters, Mary Barbee Berry and Louise Barbee.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Sunday at 5:00 pm at Ridgecrest Presbyterian Church, 24517 Ridgecrest Road in Locust, and will be officiated by Rev Larry Pitman. Burial will follow at the Ridgecrest Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Survivors include son, Ronnie Eugene (Cindy) Dry of Albemarle; daughter-in-law, Diana Dry of Ridgecrest; five grandchildren, Cynthia S. (Scottie) Burleson, Duston Dry, Mandy (Levi) Efird, Travis (Michele) Dry, and Jill (Jeremy) Dry; five great-grandchildren, Kaylyn and Kaden Little, Bryson and Josiah Efird, and Travis Burleson; great-great granddaughter, Kaydence Burleson; and brother, Van Barbee.
Lillian worked many jobs and loved life on the farm with her husband and family. In her later years she loved being a teaching assistant at Ridgecrest Elementary. After retiring, at 81 years of age, she continued to volunteer at Ridgecrest and Aquadale Elementary schools because the students kept her young.
