Lillian Jane Brattain Love, 91, of Locust, passed away Monday, November 18, 2024, at Atrium Health Stanly Hospital in Albemarle, NC.
Lillian was born April 7, 1933, in Stanly County North Carolina to the late Jennie Clara Brattain. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Bobby Gene Love. They were lifelong members of Love’s Grove Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm, Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service and burial will be held Sunday at 2:00 pm at Love's Grove Methodist Cemetery, 4360 Polk Ford Road in Stanfield officiated by Lisa Hartsell, Lay Leader.
She worked 21 years in the corporate world as office manager for General Motors in Charlotte, NC. In 1975 when her first grandchild Chad was born, she promoted herself to her most important position. She became a full-time Nana and homemaker living farm life to the fullest. When Bart was born, days were filled with outdoor living, sunshine, peanut butter and cracker snacks stacked neatly in a tupperware container, gardening, driving everything with wheels and feeding apples to the cows over the fence at the end of the day on their farm. She loved family cookouts and toasted marshmallows with friends and family that appreciated her strong will and quick wit. She loved perfectly polished nails, silk pajamas, Carolina basketball and listening to the sounds of the Valhalla Band. Mowing her yard was a must, an obsession and only she could do it right. Stories of early years, antique collecting, sharp shooting and even driving on dirt tracks and beating the men (yes, she did both) were always being shared and remembered. Bob and Lillian were always together. From daily life to making sure to eat at their favorite local restaurants. When Bob was too weak to make it inside, the trips to Mayflower continued and they simply ate in the truck in the parking lot next to the railroad tracks. Life was Good. The life adventurers on the Love farm were always exciting and simply too numerous to mention but are forever tucked away in our hearts.
Again, she adored her family. From Bob to her daughter Barbara, her husband Danny and grandchildren Chad, his wife Meredith and Bart. At every opportunity she shared with everyone how perfect these grandbabies were in her eyes. Sharing every detail of their lives. As the days got longer, and the sunshine of life began to fade, a visit or the sound of their voices would bring a smile to her face and peace to her soul. The kind of peace and love only God can plant deep into one’s soul that is kindled for a lifetime.
A Life Well Lived and Well-Deserved Mother!
You Will Remain in Our Hearts Forever!

Thank you to the staff at Forrest Oakes for her care during her short stay. They were more than caregivers; they became our extended family. The ICU staff at Atrium Health Albemarle made her last days peaceful, all while hearing her witty stories. The blessing of mercy of our Lord was forever present. The family is thankful to you all.
