Arline Parish Ross of Badin, North Carolina, age 102, passed away on October 19, 2010 at Stanly Manor in Albemarle. Born in Concord, NC on October 02, 1908, she was the daughter of Kittie Sue Patton Parish and David Locke Parish. She was also preceded in death by her ex-husband, Richmond Holt Ross; sister, Elizabeth Craven; and brothers, John “Bud†Parish and Locke Bill Parish. A graduate of Badin High School, she attended The North Carolina College for Women in Greensboro, NC. She lived in Chatham, New Jersey for 35 years before returning to Badin. During the Depression, she was a secretary for Warner Brothers Pictures in New York City. She joined the Badin First Presbyterian Church in 1918 and remained a member until her death. She was a former member of Albemarle Women’s Club and Stanly County Cooperative Extension Service. Arline was an amazing and independent woman who lived on her own at home until 6 weeks prior to her death. She celebrated her 100th birthday with 90 friends and relatives at the Badin Inn and was given a key to the city by the mayor. Arline had an excellent memory and was the source of family history and community lore. She is survived by: her children Elizabeth (Fritz) Steudel of Pocasset, MA, Judith Francis of Westland, MI, and Allan (Vynetta) Ross of Bronxville, NY; sister, Louise Furr of Rome, GA; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. At Arline’s request, a small crypt-side service for family and close friends will be held at Fairview Memorial Park Mausoleum, Albemarle on Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at 11:00 am. Her son Rev.
