Linda "Doobie" Janelle Hall

Albemarle

Linda Doby Hall, 83, of Albemarle, N.C. passed away on the morning of Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 9:15 am at her home.

Linda, or “Doobie” as she was lovingly called, was born November 26, 1940, to Tommie Cannon and Ethel Kluttz Doby of Albemarle. She attended Albemarle Public Schools and graduated from Albemarle Senior High School in 1959. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and younger sister, Laura Doby Chapman. 

As a young woman, Linda worked for McLellan’s Department Store in downtown Albemarle, before receiving her Associate Degree from Kings College in Charlotte. She worked for GMAC of Charlotte for 7 years and the North Carolina Air National Guard for more than 30 years, before retiring in 1997.

Linda was a dedicated member of Badin United Methodist Church where she served as recording secretary for 30 years and organized their annual fundraising bazaar, among being active on other committees. She was also the secretary and treasurer of Women’s Circle, active in a Bunco club, the KIRK Club, and Sunshine club, as well as a supporter of community arts.

Her favorite things included her grandchildren and any activity they were involved in, shopping at TJ Maxx and a Sonic hamburger or chocolate ice cream.

The family will receive loved ones on Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 6-8pm at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. Funeral Service will be on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at 1:30pm at Central United Methodist Church in Downtown Albemarle, officiated by Rev. Dr. Doug Hume and Rev. Dr. David Blankenberg, followed by a graveside service at Fairview Cemetery, and a reception at Central United Methodist Church.

She is survived by husband of nearly 63 years, Jerry Miller Hall; their children Mandy Scardina (John) and Jason Hall (Shelly); grandchildren Christian Payne, Victoria Ford (Connor), Jada Hall, Jillian Scardina, Jax Hall; great-granddaughter Miller Ford.
