Linda O'Brien

– Linda Moose O’Brien passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.

Born January 22, 1939, in Albemarle, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Mr. And Mrs. David Augustus Moose of Albemarle. She was preceded in death by her brother, John David Moose; nephew, David A. Moose; and numerous adored relatives.

Linda was Valedictorian of the Albemarle High School Class of 1957. She attended Salem College and then transferred to the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill where she was a cheerleader and selected as the first Tar Heel Beauty.

Having received a B.S. Degree in Education, Linda later obtained her Masters Degree in Counseling at Campbell University.

She was Program Director of Oceanview Recovery Center in Myrtle Beach, S.C. for nine years.

Upon retirement, she and her husband, Charles, specialized in adoptive study in South Carolina where they helped place precious children in good homes.

Linda published a children’s book, “Mooney Finds A Bed” with her daughter, Caroline.

Linda is survived by her husband, Ret. Lt. Col. Charles Clark O’Brien of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; son, Edward Porcher Brunson III and wife Robin along with their children, Jacob and Marley Favata, all of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; daughter, Caroline Brunson Vlasis and husband Mike and grandson, George John Vlasis II, all of Winston-Salem, N.C.; beloved sister, Mary Beth Swanner and husband Ron of Albemarle, N.C.; and sister-in-law, Sandy Moose of Alpharetta, Georgia.

Also surviving are her stepchildren, Scott O’Brien and wife Angela and their son, Conor; Mike O’Brien; and Heather Coggin and husband Jeff and their daughters, Chandler and Charlotte.

Linda was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend to all. Everyone who knew her loved her.

A Memorial Service will be on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at 2 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, 230 S. Second St., Albemarle, N.C. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
