Linda Smith

Linda Rushing Smith, 77, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 26, 2021.

Linda was born September 16, 1943 in North Carolina to the late James Junior Rushing and the late Ruthie Kiker Rushing.
She was also preceded in death by brother, Donald Thomas Rushing, and great-granddaughter, Emily Horne.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 1:45 pm, Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church. The funeral service will immediately follow on Tuesday at 2:00 pm officiated by Elder David Hogan. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Cemetery at 6302 East Lawyers Road, Marshville, NC 28103.

Survivors include husband, Glenn Lee "Dave" Smith, Sr. of Monroe; daughters, Gail (Mike) Crump and Kim Renee Smith; sons, Lee (Alechia) Smith of Monroe and Doug Smith of Monroe;  grandchildren, Chad Rushing, Kayla Rushing, Rebecca Crump, Brittany (Jonathon) Powell, Garett (Brittany) Horne, Anthony Smith, Aaron Smith, Carey (J.C.) Dennis, Jessica Smith, Jacob Smith, and Nikki Smith; 17 great-grandchildren; and sister, Sue Stacks.

Linda will be truly missed. She will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother, and a great cook, who always put family first and wanted her family to be together as much as possible. Linda was a foster parent for many years and some of her foster children would still visit and still called her mom. She was also a devoted wife to the love of her life and husband of 62 years, Glenn "Dave" Smith.
