Linda Turner

Linda Whitley Turner, of New London, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

Mrs.Turner was born in Cabarrus County to the late Joseph Lee Whitley, Sr and the late Phyllis Rebecca Barringer Whitley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marion "Buddy" Turner; three brothers, Joseph, Phillip and an infant brother; and a sister, Vivian Whitley.

Linda was an active member and the treasurer for the Disabled American Veterans Auxillary Chapter 12 of Albemarle for many, many years. She was an avid gardener, caregiver, loving mother, god grandmother, and aunt to many nieces and nephews. Linda developed a passion for sports after retirement and was employed with Phillip Morris USA for 20 years until her retirement.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service officiated by Rev. Luther McIntyre will be on Monday, March 27, 2017 at 2:00PM in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel in Albemarle. Burial will follow at the Stanly Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 2001 E. Main Street, Albemarle.

Survivors include son, Mark Whitley; daughter, Becky Turner both of New London; special daughter, Angela Furr; goddaughter, Melanie Barnhardt; god grandson, Levi Barnhardt; brothers, Tommy Whitley and wife Linda, John Whitley and wife Kathy, and Paul Whitley all of New London; sisters, Barbara Pinkston, Debora Eury, Lisa Liles and husband Randy, and Julie Shue and husband Randy, all of New London, Donna Hathcock, Teresa Layton and husband Roger, and Rita Simpson and husband Thomas all of Albemarle; and loved by many nieces and nephews.
