Liz Clay

Lizzie "Liz" Clay, 86, of Concord, passed away Friday, May 21, 2021.  God gained another angel.  Liz is at peace and in no more pain.

Liz was born January 19, 1935 in Stanly County to the late William and Mary Lou Nance.  She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, James W. Clay; and two brothers.

Music was a huge part of Liz's life.  She enjoyed dancing and she was very good at it.  Liz was very integral in backing and encouraging her children in music at an early age.  She would even make their costumes.  Liz loved working outside and riding her lawnmower.  She enjoyed going to the lake and the beach.  Liz also liked flowers and sunsets.  She was a very social and sweet person.  Most of all, she was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include son, James "Donnie" (Barbara) Clay of Concord; Kathy (Gary) Smith of Concord; son, Randy W. (Rebecca) Clay of Concord; brother, Howard Nance of Kannapolis; grandchildren, Donna (Jeff) Giddings of Mt. Pleasant, Natalie (Ray) Ferguson of Mt. Pleasant; Suzanne (Jason) Parker of Albemarle; Holly (Dale) Burris of Concord; Andrew (Adrienne) Clay of Mebane; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 1:45 pm, Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord.  The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, Rev. Keith Navey.  Burial will follow at the Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis.
