Lois Cruse

Lois Geneva Canupp Cruse, 70, of 3925 Rimer Road, Concord, went home to be with her Lord Friday, August 14, 2009 at Tucker Hospice House. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 PM Sunday, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church. The funeral service will follow at 3 PM at the church, Pastor Joseph A. Miller and Rev. Chuck Overcash officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Cruse was born November 7, 1938, in Cabarrus County to the late Edgar Calvin Canupp and the late Mary Pauline Lambert Canupp. She was educated in the Cabarrus County School System and was employed with Cone Mills, then Cruse Meat Processing. Lois assisted her late husband, Kermit, with USSSA softball. She was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit Lynn Cruse, who died February 10, 2009; a son, Calvin Bumgarner; and sisters, Wilma Jane Barnhardt and Doris Loraine Canupp. Survivors include her son, Randall Bumgarner of Statesville; sisters, Ella Mae Allen of China Grove and Evelyn Christine Grimes of Kannapolis; stepsons, Pastor Tim Cruse of Monroe and Pastor Terry Cruse of Rockwell; stepdaughter Teffney Shearer of China Grove; and 18 grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, 4500 Rimer Road, Concord, NC 28025; or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
