Lois Garris

Lois Grace Melton Garris, 92 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Monday, April 11, 2016 at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord.

Lois was born August 3, 1923 in Stanly County to the late Henry Lawson Melton and the late Grace Mae Eudy Melton. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Homer Lee Garris, in 1995; brothers, Woodrow, Joe, and Bob Melton; and sisters, Willie Tucker and La Vada Presson.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel in Albemarle, officiated by Rev. Fred Carpenter. The burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park, 1425 East Main Street, Albemarle.

Survivors include son, David Garris and wife Melissa of Nashville, TN; special caretakers, Tommy and Anita Ross, who so lovingly and selflessly took care of her; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lois worked as a receptionist for W.D. Beal Chiropractic Clinic. She was a charter member of Main Street United Methodist Church, where she was active as long as her health would allow. She set a Godly example of what a Christian woman should be. Lois had a charismatic and magnetic personality, who never met a stranger and made everyone around her feel like they were the most special person in the world. She was a very memorable and caring person, who was loved by all who knew her.
