Lois S. Hendley, 90, passed away Friday, July 5, 2013 at 4:25 am, at Bethany Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Albemarle. Born April 1, 1923 in Stanly County, NC, she is the daughter of the late Dee King David Speights and the late Vernie Bost Speights . She was also preceded in death by husband, Jessie Helms Hendley, daughter, Sylvia Hendley McGuire, sister, Virginia Coley and brothers, Paul Speights and Alvin David "A.D." Speights and special son-in-law, James Rabon The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle, NC. The funeral service will be at 4:00 pm, on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Aquadale Baptist Church in Norwood officiated by Rev. Craig Scott, Pastor, assisted by Rev. Jeremey Holt. There will be a 30 minute state prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Aquadale Baptist Church Cemetery in Norwood. Survivors include daughter, Frances Rabon of Richfield, NC, sister, Maxine Underwood and husband Ray of Albemarle, NC; grandchildren, Mitzi Ridenhour, Jamie Rabon, Jeff Rabon and Amber Thompson, and 8 great grandchildren. Lois was retired from Albemarle Spinning in Albemarle as a winder operator. She was a member of Aquadale Baptist Church which she attended as long as her health permitted. She enjoyed the activities offered at Bethany Woods, especially Bingo. Lois loved everyone, especially her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Bethany Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 33426 Old Salisbury Road, Albemarle, NC 28001, Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001 or Aquadale Baptist Church, 32871 Church Street, Norwood, NC 28128. The family requests a special thanks to Bethany Woods for the care and concern given to Lois.
