Lois Simpson

Lois Margaret Poplin Simpson of 20176 Hwy 52 S., Albemarle, NC died August 28, 2009 at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle. The daughter of the late Pearson J. Poplin and Hattie Jenkins Poplin, she was a CNA at the Lutheran Home. She was a lifetime member of Porter Methodist Church, taught Sunday school and was an active member of UMW. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Simpson Cemetery, 16630 Hwy 52 S., Albemarle, NC 28001 C/O Debbie Hinson. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, A. Ray Simpson of the home, son, Steve Simpson and wife Priscilla of Albemarle,brothers; Harold Ray poplin of Albemarle and William Claude Poplin of Lynchburg, Va., grandchildren: Jennifer Simpson Keelin of Myrtle Beach, SC, James Simpson of Albemarle, Rhoda Simpson Vreeland of Franklin, NJ, Thomas Simpson of Jackson, Tenn, Salem Bays Taylor of Albemarle,and Heather Simpson Eller of Albemarle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Ray Simpson and a granddaughter, Mary Melissa Simpson. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 30, 2009 from 2:30 to 4:00 at Porter UMC Fellowship Hall. The body will lie in state during that time. Funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM at Porter United Methodist Church. Pastor Thomas Simpson, grandson, Pastor Robert Eller, grandson in law and Rev. Warren Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Simpson Cemetery.
