Lois May Utz

Friday night, August 2, 2024, at 9:44 pm, the Lord called our mother, Lois May Utz, to her heavenly home, with our family surrounding her hospital bed. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Lois was 92 years young when she passed, leaving a lasting impression on our entire family.

She was born, Oct 6, 1931, in Manassas, Virginia, to the late Emmett Alfred Winegord and Mamie Virginia Oswald Winegord. Lois stated she would always be a Virginian, however, she moved to North Carolina to be near her beloved grandchildren, Lauren Utz and Kevin Utz. She spent all of her time with them as they grew up and would participate in any activity, no matter what it was, and would invite their friends to join them.

Lois was always there for her sons, George and Bruce. She was a loving mother and considered her sons' well-being before her own. She loved her daughter-in-law, Violet, very much and stated all the time that Violet was the daughter she never had. 

Lois' extended family includes Lauren’s husband, Matt Sahr; Kevin’s wife, Holly Utz; and Lois' great-grandson, Bodie James Utz. Her heart was full of love for everyone and was filled with joy when she visited with them all. She loved her family very much. Lois was also an avid pet lover and loved her dogs, Miley and Dolly, like members of her family.

Our hearts ache tremendously right now, but we all find comfort that she is no longer in pain and no longer suffering. We know her beloved husband, George, was waiting for Lois to give her the biggest hug ever. We think she knows how much she is loved and missed already. We love Lois very much and while we are heartbroken due to her loss, we will always remember the good times we had and the belief that we will see her again soon.

Lois's family will take her back to her Virginia home to be laid to rest next to her loving husband, George. The funeral service will be on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Stonewall Memory Gardens in Manassas, Virginia, officiated by Rev. Preston Wines.
