Lona Yow

Mrs. Lona Mae Yow, 90 years of age, of Stanfield, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Trinity Place in Albemarle.

Lona was born May 17, 1925 in Stanly County to the late Thomas Jefferson Presson and the late Dortha Jay Presson. She was also preceded in death by husband, Frank Carl Yow; daughter, Joyce Hatley; and step-mother, Lillian Motley Presson.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm, Friday, January 29, 2016 at Kinza Memorial Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow in the church sanctuary and will be officiated by Dr. Darrell Nance. Burial will follow at the Kinza Memorial Church Cemetery, 4311 Love Mill Rd., Stanfield.

Survivors include: son, Terriell (Vicky) Yow of Stanfield; daughter, Juanita "Sis" Hartsell of Stanfield; special daughter, Debbie Kiker of Stanfield; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Lona was a devoted Christian and a founding member of Kinza Memorial Baptist Church where she often taught Sunday School. For many years, Lona expressed her love and faith to others through her Card Ministry.
