Lonnie Bowers

Lonnie “Gene” Bowers, 75, of Albemarle, passed away on Monday, December 24, 2012 at Universal Healthcare. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle on Thursday, December 27, 2012, from 6:00pm until 8:00 pm. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Sam Wilson and Rev. Andrew Ball will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel, Albemarle on Friday, December 28, 2012 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at the Old Albemarle Cemetery on Pee Dee Ave. Military honors will be conducted by Stanly County DAV Chapter 12. At other times, the family will meet at his home. Gene was born on October 16, 1937, in Albemarle, to the late Jake Bowers and the late Ruby Bowers. Mr. Bowers is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Patsy Bowers; sister, Marie Hedrick of Harrisburg; niece, Sherry Carrigan of Waxhaw and many loving cousins. He was a proud Army veteran, serving two years in the Korean conflict. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 1901 Burnswick Ave. Charlotte, NC 28207.
